Unlock PDF

Entering a password every time you open a PDF you own becomes tedious — especially for documents you access daily. The Unlock PDF tool removes the open-password restriction from a PDF, creating a freely accessible copy that no longer prompts for a password when opened.

PDF password protection works in two ways. An open password (also called a user password) prevents the document from being opened without the correct passphrase. A permissions password (owner password) restricts operations like printing, copying text, or editing. This tool removes the open password that blocks access to the document. You must provide the existing correct password to verify that you are authorised to unlock the file.

Common reasons to unlock a PDF:

• Removing the password from a document you created yourself so you do not need to type it every time
• Preparing a file for merging with other PDFs (most merge tools require unlocked inputs)
• Archiving a document in a password-free format for long-term storage
• Printing a password-protected file you received with authorisation

Important note: This tool is intended for legitimate use — removing passwords from documents you have the right to access. It does not bypass encryption on files you do not have the password for and should not be used to circumvent security on documents owned by others.

After unlocking, if you want to merge the document with others, use Merge PDF. To add new protection with a different password, use Protect PDF.

Privacy: Your password is sent over HTTPS and used only for the decryption operation. It is never stored or logged. Files are deleted within one hour.
